U.S. veteran's guns confiscated when waitress reports innocent conversation

I hope this guy dies a multimillionaire from the lawsuit he should file.

Unfortunately the president set the tone early for Red Flag laws.

WND is literally the freaking worst!!!!!

He was returned to his job after an investigation (which takes some time). It took less then 30 days. He was also never fired as WND “reports”. He was placed on “a review” and then once the facts came out he was reinstated with a letter of support from the chief.

His firearms were given to his step son or son in law, i forget which one. He is appealing to get his CCW or FOID back and his guns.

Really sucks he is going through this and that his comments were taken out of context as he was pointing out what he thought was a security flaw.

This is a poor example of “abuse” as he was discussing shooting up a school, his weapons aren’t seized in some police evidence locker, and he was allowed to go back and work with the kids/school less then 30 days after this started.

It’s a reprint from Western Journal, which may be worse than WND :)

Were his guns taken without due process?
His FOID card or whatever it’s called was taken so he’s totally screwed until that is returned.
Despite the sensationalism of the article there’s something here to be concerned about. A man had his guns taken away because a stranger thought she heard him say something.

Agreed. Compare this to any other RIGHT (say voter registration card...not that that carry's any weight since no ID is required to vote)...this is an infringement. Doesn't matter who received the firearms - they were taken without cause, without due-process. On another note, the firearm ID (much like our HQL) is no different than requiring ID to vote. Either it's an undue burden to require ID to exercise a right, or it isn't. Here it's an infringement again since it is required to own firearms and it was taken.

We won’t have a Rosa Parks. We’ll have a bunch of unnamed unknown innocent people abused and stripped of their rights, very similar to what happened to blacks in our country.
    Death by a thousand cuts.

No, this is a perfect, although flawed, example. He lost his 2A right because of a snippet of conversation overheard by a paranoid stranger, and has to pursue legal means to get his property back.

MA's ERPO law is working there as well as FSA2013 is here.

Actually, the corpse in Pasadena is our Rosa Parks. But he can't walk back to the rear of the bus any more.

Kind of interesting that the officer he was overheard criticizing is married to the Vice Principal of that school. :tinfoil:

But, hey, no big deal. It's not like he was a member of the community for decades, or a special police officer and constable in the community at some point in his past.

Who knows, maybe he will be successful in his appeal to have his property returned, especially since it never shoulda been taken in the first place.

Okay. Say that order was valid. Dude then rents a Uhaul and runs over 100 people waiting to get into a Seahawks game, at least he didn’t shoot anyone. We already have laws to handle threats of imminent violence, ERPOs suck at that, on top of the due process concerns.

"Our regional firearms enforcement unit likely prevented a massacre by someone committed to advancing a race war. Washington state residents should sleep a little easier knowing they have a team empowered to enforce firearm surrender court orders from those considered to be an extreme risk to public safety," Dan Nolte of the Seattle City Attorney's Office told CNN.

    But only for a year...

IF the alleged Nazi actually IS a Nazi, that's pretty much an indefensible ideology .

BUT depriving people of their Rights for their political views absent any criminal activity is an extremely precipitous blare ice covered slope .
