I’ve been to Reddit and I understand that everyone says just get one for each caliber. You can’t make a thread over there without the whole thing devolving into that. It’s like when people ask for computer recommendations in tech forums and no one can give an answer except “just build one.” I am hoping for a different result here.

Three main calibers I want to shoot:

    308 Winchester
    7.62x39
    9mm (pistol)

I’ve read a bunch of articles but hoping to get some recommendations.

If sticking w/ SiCo the Omega 36M would be lighter and smaller than the 46M.

Not too many pistol cans that can do full rifle too.

    Edit:

You will have to pay extra for the piston, but the 36M runs great on a 9mm handgun.

Thanks guys, those are the ones I am seeing recommended most frequently for sure but they seem to be out of stock at SilencerShop which is where I would like to buy.

The only issue i see (since I tried to do exactly what you're trying a year ago) is the 9mm pistol.

I bought the YHM R9 thinking it'd cover all the bases and it's great for 308 and 7.62x39 but she's a thiccc can and way too bulky on a pistol. Just know that with any suppressor that you end up picking. Most of the rifle cans have too much diameter to be comfortable on a pistol.

In your case I'd get two cans. One for pistols (9 or 45 for multi use) and one for your rifles.

I'm in the middle of the process for a Q Erector 9 because of all of this.

This is why people are recommending the Omega 36M. In "short mode", it's roughly the same weight as an Octane 45K, which is a pretty usable can as they go.

Unpopular opinion: handgun suppressors are mostly toys, and I wouldn't optimize for that use case over rifles. I think I shoot my Octane 45K maybe once every few years at most. My rifle cans see a lot more use, and that's from someone who shoots a ton of pistol.

I agree I think if I could do it all over again I'd get a .45 cal can for pistols, a .30 can for 308/556 and a .22 can. I have a rugged 45 and a Spectre II, just need a .30 for higher powered rifles. Cans like anything are better purpose built than a jack of all trades kind of deal. A universal can will be ok at everything but not great at anything, and also better than nothing. Live and learn. I also would have just bought everything all at once. The waiting is the hardest part.

Bingo. The wait is why I grabbed two R9s at the same time lol. And then had a freak <90 wait on my T3 right after that.

But a dedicated pistol can would have saved me from this optic abomination...

Seriously, I have a Hybrid. I use it on 9mm (not too often), 308 and 45/70. Very versatile can. With any multi can, you will need adaptors/mounts, end caps, pistons, etc. So you need to budget for the mounts as well. You can go QD/ASR for the SiCo cans or simply the appropriate thread adaptor. For the pistol, you will need a piston mount.
I think I saw the 46 M in stock the other day at SS.

Another vote for the 36M, Love mine. IMO it's the ultimate AR can. In short config it is all of 5" long + mount, and sounds as good as any K can. I use the short config and 22cal flash hider cap for 5.56 primarily. In full size, it is excellent with 300BO or 9mm subs. I run it on my suppressed AK, and it works well, 308 bolt or AR308s, too. It can handle 350 legend, 8.6 blackout and is rated up to 338LM. You can go broke adding caps and mounts, but it is insanely versatile. I use griffin taper mounts and a plan A adapter, smaller/lighter, and no need to turn a lock ring like the ASR. The Charlie tapered mounts are awesome, they won't unscrew, and there are 3rd party mounts for it.

I have dedicated pistol cans, but I do use it on my 9mm PCCs, again sounds awesome. It will work on a 9mm handgun, but needs the booster housing and a piston, and at 1.5"OD it blocks more sights than standard 1.375" pistol cans. The booser housing is also required to use the 3 lug mount being it screws into that and not the supressor itself. I do agree with Erwos that suppressed handguns are mostly a novelty, and nowhere near as useful or fun as rifles and sbr/braced pistols. In this case a rifle can that can work on a handgun is a much better way to go than a pistol can that can work on a rifle.

Unless you are running a 9mm full size handgun or a PCC, you may want to center your selection on the rifles. I have found many people who bought cans thinking they will shoot them a lot on their pistols actually don't. A heavy can on a light pistol may not work well and then there are the sights to think about.

It’s going to be hard to beat the Alaskan 360, for a do everything can. Depending on your budget, you can also get it in titanium. The ti version is less than 6oz, with no barrel restrictions and a no questions asked lifetime warranty
