Raccoons are known rabies carriers. I'd suggest a .22 and a red predator light and take care of business. Or raise the corn so only deer can get it.

If you don't want to sit out there and shoot them, some traps are probably your best bet. Marshmellows in a dog proof trap (cheaper then a cage trap) with an egg on top to keep the mice out and act like a white beacon for the little thieves.

I get game camera pics of fox, deer and coon eating SXS with the coon getting the lions share. :mad54: Daytime tree rats, large variety might be worth the .22 but they aren't worth the bother to me to clean.

Try a bowl of beer and sprinkle salt on them. No ....Wait that's not it.

That's right . Put on your PJs and offer them some hot chocolate and talk about Health Care. Crap ..... No that only works on my Brother -in-law.

No.... Shoot him. That works on Raccoon s and brother in-laws.

Oh ..the beer and salt works on brother in-laws and slugs. They hate that.

that's funny...you know they climb trees so raising the corn isn't going to do anything :lol2:

If it's one of those stand-alone feeders, hanging a platform under the feeder would prevent the little rascals from accessing the corn. From what I remember, the sides are slick so they can't climb down to access the platform, either.

If you are going to try and trap the Raccoon, I would recommend putting a tin of sardines in the trap; they can't resist fish.
