I'm down in Columbia for work training. Any good suggestions for a local place. I'd like to try something different, no chains or crap I can find up in bmore. Lunch is short, so no sit down places. Thanks :D

Drive out 175 to route 1.
Turn left and then an immediate left into the shell station.
Go in the door on the right.

    R&R Taqueria

It was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives.
    It is the latter.

If you have to park in the back lot, pay attention. There's always some shady characters strolling around there.

Both R&R and Bon Fresco are great and the latter is one of my favorites.

If you go to Bon Fresco make sure to get a picante sandwich. They also have a London Broil that is not on the menu.

An Loi - for pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) right across from Lincoln Tech near Berger Rd. and Snowden River Pkwy. It is sit down, but you can be in and out in less then 30 min. Get the beef wrapped in grape leaves and the Pho #5

I used to eat there religiously when I worked in Savage some years ago.

    Thank me later :D

+1 for the London Broil Sammich! From Broken Land at Snowden, you're just about 5 min away.

-1 on frisco. Used to be a great dive/diner. Ever since they moved the food quality and service took a SERIOUS nose dive. We used to eat there at LEAST once a wk religiously for over 5(10?) years (on a couple occasions I did 5-6 meals/wk there.) Now its always a disappointment when we go. Sad that fast food chains like baha fresh, etc make a better burrito.:( They tried to go upscale w/ their beer (good) and menu (meh) but the food and service suffered greatly. They don't care as the beer menu fills the place in the evenings. You'll NEVER get in/out in under 1/2 hr for lunch anymore. You'd be lucky if it only took an hr.

3rd for Frisco Tap. Good food, and great beer.

The Columbia Ale House is damned good too (yep, there's a pattern here).
