Thinking about thinning my herd and I have several handguns and regulated long guns (at least until 10/1 when they can't be sold in MD) that I may be offering for sale. I sold 2 handguns years ago and met with the buyers at the MSP, did the paperwork, and when I received the "Not Disapproved" back from the MSP I transferred the guns. I'm assuming the process is pretty much the same except as the seller I probably won't be getting the MSP paperwork back in about a week. My question is: Can I transfer a regulated gun to a buyer after 8 days (as I understand is actually the law) or will I have to wait 45,60,90 days to get the MSP paperwork back before I can transfer?
Anyone else on this forum faced (or is facing) this issue? I'd be interested to know what you did.
Also, if you release a gun after 8 days and the paperwork comes back "Disapproved" at some latter date what is your responsibility or liability as far as retrieving a gun from a "Disapproved" person?

Ok to release on 8th day except for Sunday or holiday, state police is responsible for retrieving firearm from disapproved person.
