I have a Century AK 47 that I purchased from Fred's 12 years ago. It really is not my cup of tea and was wondering what my options are to move it on. Is this now an grandfathered item that cannot be purchased here any longer? Can I have it consigned to an FFL dealer?

If you do put it on consignment with an out-of-state dealer, I don't believe you can ever take possession of it again if it fails to sell at an acceptable price or you otherwise change your mind.

The money you get will go but that gun will last generations. I just have to figure out how my son can get mine. Maybe take over my ffl?

. I just have to figure out how my son can get mine .
That's simple ! Grandfathered Banned Rifles may be inherited . Best practices is to name the gun(s) specifically by s/n in the Will .

Downside is that you have to actually die . Giving it as you get older and don't shoot as much doesn't work .

You essentially legally own an ak that nobody knows you have. It's reliable and eats cheap, available ammo. By all means, with the way this country is going, keep it. You don't have to be friends. Just remain teammates.
