I heard a rumor from a friend that starting next week, BWMC (the old North Arundel Hospital) will be installing the “pylon” style weapon detectors from Evolv https://www.evolvtechnology.com/ at the ED entrance due to recent incidents with weapons being found on campus. If a weapon is detected, the visitor/patient will be searched.

This will be sticky situation. Under federal law patients can’t be turned away from an emergency room, but it’s also currently illegal under SB1 to carry in the hospital.

    All too often.

Shooters have been known to follow an ambulance into the ER to finish off a victim who survived the street shooting.

Also Domestic Violence- abusers have hunted down a victim to eliminate the 'threat.'

What do the do if a car crash victim has a holstered G43 on his person?
EMS will use these -medical shears- to examine everyone.

And render the patient "trauma naked" before loading and transporting any victim.

EMS will find the holster and pistol and immediately notify police on scene.

The firearm is NOT going in the ambulance - 99.5% of the time.

EMS advises PD and PD take possession of firearm at scene. I have had a couple occasions where an MVC victim was armed (some civilian, some on/off duty LEO’s). On scene PD take posesssion. Pretty common operation.

Hit man completing a hit is an exceptional circumstance.

Spill overs from bar fights , domestic fights , and gang fights are common.

Drunk and/ or stoned patients getting violent and out of control is just a Tuesday night . ( Either from their wasted condition itself , or misadventures while wasted .)

Junkies threatening staff to either get a scrip , or steal drugs is just a Wensday night .

Well, these really are exceptional scenarios, certainly around these parts. Definitely not what they were thinking when making the decision to install them.
Correct - one anecdote is enough to terrify 10,000 hospital administrators.

Like the shoe-bomb did to TSA.

Having trained in "these parts," violence in the E.D. is not unheard-of. Some hospitals have fully armed police and in-department lockups.

I didn't say violence. I was quoting his 2 very rare and highly unlikely scenarios.
What have you "trained"? What's what mean?
