Horseshoe casino does not allow any weapons. Security guard saw the clip of my knife in my back pocket one day and made me put it in my vehicle. She didn't see what else I had though :lol2: They have metal detectors set off to the side but I've never seen them being used.
Same thing happened to me with a knife at the Arundel Mills casino (Live, I think).

Never occurred to me it would be a problem.

Had to go through metal detectors at hersey park and merriweather. Live casino i unclip and slide the benchmade into the pocket and then reclip once past security. This also worked at the horseshoe.

Here in PA the Gaming Control board had overstepped their authority to ban firearms. Of all people, it was disgraced, criminal, former state DA Kane that had to reverse that, as they didn’t have the power to make firearm laws. The casinos themselves all still ban them, but the state law is gone.

On a side note, someone I know worked at a local casino a few years. He said the amount of suicides in the parking lot is a dirty little secret there. People come in, lose it all, and just check out.

I don’t agree with the casino policies, but I can understand them trying to avoid some of those happening on the casino floor. Sad. But even more reason to carry, knowing that there are mentally unstable people around, ready to lose everything.

Anyone know the status of the National Aquarium? I prefer to avoid Baltimore whenever possible but the teenage kidlet wants to visit the aquarium.

Edit: a refined search found a recent thread that indicates no issues with carrying.

The official visitor's center at Gettysburg has a security guard at the door. He asks if you have any pocket knives or firearms. Presumably if you say yes, you'll be denied entry. Obviously a knife can be kept in your car. I don't know if they would allow you to lock a firearm in your car.

Now, I didn't see any metal detector. That said, I would suppose that if you are armed and tell the guard you aren't, you may be some trouble if that's discovered.

I was jumping on a plane one time, headed to Alaska. COMPLETELY forgot to mention my S&W .44 mag in my bag...until I watched it on the check-in carousel heading away. I yelled "stop! I forgot to claim my gun!" Well, too late...

What a mess. Of course, they caught it in the back with x-ray, sooo, I had to have a little get-to-gether with Fairfax's finest. We strolled down the concourse chatting and they couldn't have been nicer. They were like, "you're going to Alaska? Man, I've been wanting to go there all my life!"It all worked out and we were able to make our flight.

Not private property, but I learned not to judge people who tried to walk onto a plane with a gun on them. Sometimes, you get so used to carrying, you forget it's there and requires extra consideration.

New technology makes gun screening not look like conventional metal detectors and wanding. With Evolv you may not know they are screening you for weapons.

Baltimore Soundstage and Power Plant Live have those. However both times I went to shows there they weren't turned on because I inadvertently walked through them with a pocket knife clipped and nothing happened. It's possible they only turn them on for certain shows...or they could just be props to deter people from bringing weapons in. Who knows?

Finally saw metal detectors at Live! Last week. I don't carry anything when I go in there, only pepper spray.
I think they id the younger looking folks. They just waved me around a smaller group they were IDing. Now funny, I don't remember if I actually walked through it or around. Certainly my keys would have hit. But maybe they can dial down detection tolerances do they don't alert in small things like keys? Don't know.

If that’s the main building at the park you’re talking about that’s a Federal building and prohibited for most- not sure what the laws would be for LEO.

Manned buildings in National parks are GFZs.

Capital One Arena has signs clearly posted and had workers telling people in line that certain items wouldn't be allowed in. They used metal detectors of some kind at the doors and had secondary screening set up for those who alarmed.

I was there in September and the guard asked. I advised I had a pocket knife. He asked to see it, glanced at it and said all good. Maybe they look for fixed blades or something? I was carrying a benchmade super freek.

Johns Hopkins Emergency ONLY has a metal detector and a cop.
All the regular entrances have no detector and no signs.
Experienced this one live in practice today- it’s the equivalent of going into a courthouse, everything out of pockets and through the detector. Pro tip- try not to have an eye injury on a Saturday, the only place to be referred is Hopkins ER.

I was there a few weeks ago and could not make it through the detector without setting it off. Unless there is something inside of me that I am not aware of, I’m not sure what it was detecting. They still let me in.
