Since it's pretty much the centennial of the First World War, I figured it would only be customary for the C&R forum to have a WW1 post where we share all our goodies from that era. WW1 firearms only make up a small amount of my collection but I will be trying to focus most of this year to collecting stuff from then. I'll go first...

    Central Powers

    1. M1907 Dreyse 7.65mm pistol I picked up and posted about a few weeks ago. Imperial Germany Army proofmarked

    2. 1917 Erfurt K98a. All matching and original down to the screws

    3. Steyr M95 Carbine in the original 8x50r caliber. Unit marked on the buttplate, not exactly sure what it stands for but was told it may be for the Tyrolean Kaiserregiment. Honorable mention: my Budapest made M95 carbine, which original to WW1 was converted to 8x56r in the 1930's

    Allies

    1. French MLE-16 Berthier

    2. French MLE-1892 Artillery Carbine

    3. Russian Tula M91 made in 1896. Finnish marked but it still counts for the WW1 era

    4. U.S. Surcharged M1905 Ross Rifle used for training purposes, also have a correct U.S. marked bayonet and scabbard

    5. M1898 Krag Rifle. Kinda more so Pre-WW1 era but I believe I remember reading about Krags being issued to at least one unit that came under fire in WW1, so I'll list it just for S&G's.

    6. Japanese Type 38. Early series and maybe made around the 1917-1918 era, so I'll include it.

    7. 1917 made British Enfield I won at auction last week. Should be here in a couple days as I just got the shipping notice this afternoon. Says its an Ishapore in the auction but Mawkie and I are pretty convinced its not. No good picture of the manufacturer marks and it has a Canadian proofmark on the receiver

OMG, think my head's gonna explode! Not enough free hours in the day, week or perhaps month to do this challenge up completely. Hell, in Enfields alone we're talking many dozens of examples to upload. Don't know where to begin! Have to give this challenge some serious consideration...

I don't have a lot of WWI-era military ... this 1911 workhorse dates to the tail end of 1917 and has probably been there and done that. Looks a lot better in the pics than in person - I'd say it's a solid 10% gun for which the phrase "has nice patina" was probably invented to make the non-existent finish + rust sound collectible. It still shoots more or less straight through the original, somewhat worn & pitted barrel. One of my favorites nonetheless.

In before the storm of Enfields, Webleys and who knows what else from the big hitters... should be interesting !

Wow, I was bidding against you on this auction. Sorry, didn't know it was another MDS member. I really want a WW1 Ishapore for family reasons, so if it turns out to not be from India then not too upset I got outbid. Either way, enjoy!

No hard feelings :D. I'll post more pictures of it when it arrives later this week, I wasn't really expecting to get it, I just put my max bid up to $275 and then the bidding stopped at $265. Figured I would take a gamble since the description didn't say if the bolt matched or not

There are many like it BUT this one is mine! Post war but much like the one I toted around in Navy bootcamp many years ago. Not sure anymore but they may have been 03A3s, I think so.
