Point me to the regs on doing transfers

I've been wandering around the MD state police site and haven't discovered the regs on a private transfer. A family friend from VA wants to give me a couple of 22 rifles and a civil war era pistol. I have no idea what the pistol is yet. Can anyone point me to the regs?

Civil war pistol he can hand you. The rifles need to go through an FFL, unless he gave them to you before March 2022…if you care.
