I'm looking to hire a plumber next week. My upstairs shower is clogging up regularly, I put a can of Drano down it, it works for a week or two and backs up again. Looking for someone with a camera auger so I can see what's going on, if I have rusty pipes that are flaking and causing hairs to get stuck forming a clog or what.

I'll bet you have a wad of hair that can be fished out pretty easy. The Drano is probably just temporarily cutting through the soap scum.

With a wife and 2 daughters, who all have long hair, I have pulled more than my share of hair out of our shower drains!

I had a few long thick haired girls. I bought these by the gross.

If you have girls, you need those.

Also home depot has one that cranks and drills into the clog. This is all assuming it's a clog in your trap.

This is most likely your problem. Get a drain auger from Harbor Freight and pull that crap out. Sometimes I can unclog mine from the tub drain only, sometimes it's worse and I have to take apart the sink drain and auger back to the tub to unclog the pipes.

Should I start a thread "Post your best drain augering catches"?

And yes, I am sure the private guys would appreciate cash jobs but they surely all take CC. I used RotorRooter. Got to say, quick, friendly and while expensive it seemed fair given the options.

I was going to go with one of the companies that advertise on TV, but I figured I'd post here first, give the money to a pro-2A person.
