IF you look in the red circle it says "Made in Germany"

but it has the Circle 10 Arsenal meaning it was made in Bulgaria and is a "Military" makarov not the civilian market. Civilian market Maks trade under the name "Arsenal"

the prefix date "36" IIRC is made in 1996 and Reunification was in 1990

    SO....is it Bulgarian or German??

this is what is confusing me

I still think it's Bulgarian, no matter the other incomprehensible (import?) writing on the other side.

100% Bulgarian made. Importer jacked up the import mark. It's not German or Russian

    THANK YOU!!

this is my sentiment too. the Circle 10 clearly its Bulgarian mfg in 1996. Its the "Made in Germany" stamp that confused me????

I thought I knew my Maks and this just threw me off but Circle 10 is factory while the marks on the right side are aftermarket. would you agree? the German bluing would stand out too...this isn't German or Russian

It's Bulgarian period. It was just mismarked by the importer because it came in with a shipment of DDR makarovs. The same thing happened when a few Soviets came in with a shipment of Bulgarians. They were marked "Bulgaria". Pistols marked this way are known as "sneaks" for obvious reasons. I have one of the Soviet sneaks. It's 100% Izhevsk made just as the one in question here is 100% Bulgarian made. No mystery here.
