Pile od deer fur?

K maybe the more experienced deer hunters can tell me what went on here. Boys and I were on a trail by a stream and came upon this pile of fur. There was one chunk that had skin on it.
So what went on here?

I would say it died and then ripped apart by predators.

Or it was weak from a very tough winter and then killed and then ripped apart by predators.

That's what happens when something dies only thing left is the hide then the hair.

Looks like something scavenged a carcass. It might have been one that a hunter lost, a car got, or one that just did not make it through the winter.

bones are prob scattered nearby unless someone dumped the hide/guts nearby..then scavengers dispersed the rest..
