I apologize if this isn’t the exact right spot to post this question but I thought it might have something to do with safety (and I don’t have the ability to post in The Water Cooler for some reason). I’ve noticed some people, when taking pictures of their gun, put an object up against the trigger of their gun, like a pen or some other cylindrical shaped item. What is the point of this?

Often it's the easiest way to position it for pics, otherwise they lay on the side, and depending on the shape won't be flat for a pic from above

It holds the firearm up off of the flat table so you can take a picture straight at it instead if having to stand up high directly over the top shooting straight downward. Some folks have commercially made “stands” that accomplish this, but in a pinch, a pen works.

It's to tilt it up for a better angle. I prefer just yanking a bullet and resting the rear slide on it like a kickstand .

Don't feel bad OP. many of us had to think about it a few times to understand what we were seeing.
