    Scott duff in m1 grand: post wwII shows examples of 4.24 serial nos paired with barrels starting 3 53. Your serial number places shows barrels stamped may, july 53.
    I would bet this barrel is original to the rifle.
    The receiver drawing number is correct for this rifle.
    The receiver heat no.A 44 A shows up 20,000 units later than your rifle but they appear all over the board, many not reported and A39B and A45A appearing on may and july barrels with your receiver drawing number.
    Appears to be restocked, but would need more pics of any marks.
    The trigger guard appears to predate the rifle; looks milled and not stamped.
    All in all i think you have a beautiful rifle.
