I hear ya. I passed up one with a safety because I only plan to get a single example and want a, "proper" one.
This is the same for a Russian SKS. I only want one, so I've been searching for a matching, non-refurb example. Can't seem to afford those either...

By taking a year off from collecting (but not researching), I was hoping some of you would start to close the gap on my Mosin lead, but that really didn't happen. It seems most of you guys have the money to collect various platforms of C&R and didn't stick with just the Mosins. Oh well, more for me when I make my, "comeback"!

I have a yugo tok. Had issues with the added safety lever. I just pulled it out to make range time easier. Wish the ammo was still cheap, but glad I bought a good bit with gun purchase.

I think the Yugoslav toks have the safety factory installed. I don't think they are aftermarket installs
