Just an update: the end user form is taken care of, so no worries there, as I said before, I will not bid higher or crazy. we all need to do the math and come to an agreement on what we would / is the highest bid. so toss that around, I have the lot on "bid watch" so to say and have learned from previous bidding on brass / ammo cans it doesn't really pickup till about the last hour or so of the lot.

To address Rock's post, the estimate of number breaks down something like this:

    1055lbs - 2 (45lbs) pallets - 19 (~2lb/each ammo cans) - 12 (~50lbs of wooden boxes) = ~877lbs
19 ammo cans (assuming .50cal cans)
    Approx. 63,000-75,000 cases.
(stu929 did some math & mine was on the lower end of about .22oz/6.25grams per spent 5.56 case hence the range).

Previous experience from others in this thread have said these go anywhere from $3500-$5500. So, here is the breakdown on costs:

10% Buyers Premium and 6% sales tax

    Assumptions:
    $3500
    $3850 with 10% buyer's premium
$4,081 with premium and 6% MD tax
    Ammo cans worth $20/piece
    $4,081 less $380 for ammo cans = $3701

    63,000 cases = $3701/63,000 = $.06/each
    75,000 cases = $3701/75,000 = $.05/each

    $5500
    $6050 with 10% buyer's premium
$6413 with premium and 6% MD tax
    Ammo cans worth $20/piece
    $6413 less $380 for ammo cans = $6033

    63,000 cases = $6033/63,000 = $.10/each
    75,000 cases = $6033/75,000 = $.08/each

So, depending on the price and quantity we're looking at between $.05-$.10 per shell.

Based on this, participants need to weigh in on max price their willing to pay per piece of brass.

Also, between myself and TimG, we have pickup taken care of.

A lot more interest than I anticipated so I am very much in at this point. Thank you very much to Rock, 50BMG and TimG for working to facilitate this.

I'd be in for $0.10 ea. up to $125 worth but can't swing 1/19th of ~70K units.

Edit: HarCo snuck in on me :)

I still think 10c per is a bit high. I tired to take dunnage into account but I have seen 223 brass for 7-9 per shipped. I honestly think we should be targeting 4-7 per considering that someone will have to pickup and split. Time gas etc.

Not trying to be a downer just been in charge of a group buy or two and they can get out of hand sometimes.

As for the estimates please feel free to look at boths ends of the scale. Remember to take off 100 lbs for the pallets and 50-70 lbs for the cans or crates maybe a little more plus remember sometimes the crates may have gravel etc on them adding to the total weight.

As for the brass last few times I got brass 1k weighed between 12-12.5 lbs give or take.

I would think the range of .06 to .09 would be good. Lower the better of course!
