I'm also intrigued by the fact that the picture even shows the smoke. Catching the flash of smoke & muzzle gasses is a 1 in 1000 shot for a photographer using tye typical hand held press camera. I was once in charge of a military testing range and sometimes we needed those special shots. It took very expensive and specialized equipment, and often several tries, to get one that was in clear focus like the one in the White House picture. And notice that it appears to be fairly bright at the time of the photo. How many times have you actually seen that much muzzle smoke at the time of firing, on a bright day?
