"Gay marriage" just means equal legal rights to straight couples. Whatever term it ends up being called is completely irrelevant. Actually, that paragraph is word for word what I've been advocating for a good while now. "Civil union" is a much more appropriate term anyway; the word "marriage" has a strong religious connotation. And if a religion says marriage is between a man and a woman then marriage is between a man and a woman. The law should still treat both types of couples equally. Why not just meet halfway and grant equal rights but call it civil union? The left is picking a fight by demanding that it be called marriage. Just leave the tradition alone and stop arguing about something that isn't the most pressing issue.
Liberals are being greedy on this issue, no doubt about it. They see conservatives with this yellow toy and won't stop until they get it, even when there's an identical green toy sitting right in front of them. We should take what we can get and be happy.
Just used it as an example. Shoulda known better. How did a thread about TM turn gay?
