These CNN town halls are usually very good and well balanced.

Lot so of good questions with plenty of time given for answers.

Will there be political plants in the audience? Absolutely.

But the same can be said for FNC town halls.

CNN town halls are utterly orchestrated, scripted and one sided.

Too bad they can’t get the paid child actor who’s dad is retired FBI on also. You know, the one that graduated H.S. in 2015 in California and is now a student at Parkland. Hope she clarifies, to everyone, how much the NRA donated to ALL politicians last year. Seen people on FOX claiming $20 million.

That "paid actor" claim is a hoax. We have enough trouble without repeating false claims, There are PLENTY of emotional yet articulate kids from this school. The issue has to be how all of the bill of rights can be torn up in the name of safety -- not hoax claims about child actors.

Yeah, you're probably quite right. But CNN wants everybody who watches this believe that they're alone in the minority if they disagree with this monolithic crowd. Peer pressure. Propaganda.

Exactly correct and this is a well understood strategy of the anti Second amendment lobby. Probably 55% to 63% of US households have firearms, but by pushing the meme that only those who proclaim this highly confidential gun ownership in public are actual gun owners, they invert gun ownership form the norm that it is to fringe minority. People don't like to think they are outside the mainstream.

Seeing one accusation may be a hoax, but seeing multiple by multiple people and even a student from California claiming he graduated in 2015 lends credibility to the accusation. Doesn’t help themselves when they use their classmates murders for their own fame. You know that someone is fronting these students even having the Hanna Gonzalez girl wear the same outfits all the time. Nice makeup, nice nails but no tears. And all I hear is “gun control” and NOTHING about honoring the victims or even about convicting the shooter.

NYC prosecutor Cyrus Vance Jr. was on Maria Bartiromo this a.m., lying his ass off about gun control laws and effectiveness. He said the expired "Assault Weapon Ban" saved lives and needs to be re-enacted. False. The FBI specifically stated, after research, that the AWB had no effect.

The anti's don't have real arguments to support their draconian measures, so they lie and appeal to emotions, largely hysteria caused and egged on by them and the media.

The one last night was. There's no getting around that. I was surprised at how one sided it was.

It made me think we'll see sweeping AWB legislation passed in the next few years. Trying to keep the tin foil at bay right now.

The only way a bill becomes law is if Trump signs it. The polls are being conducted as we speak. Trump and the Congress will act based on the poll results.

It's why gun rights people need to bombard the Whitehouse and Congress will phone calls, and e-mails, and letters.

Polls get the results they want, by timing, by framing and ordering the questions asked, and by selecting the "representative" groups they poll.

Polls are designed to mold public opinion as much as they are to measure it.

One thing which I didn't hear elaborated upon (admittedly I couldnt stand to watch the whole thing) was the arming of teachers.
Now I'm not sure if people take this as forcing teachers to be armed or simply allowing them to carry.
I'm betting that crowd thought it meant to forcibly put a gun in their hand and tell them to defend the school. This needs to be spelled out clearly.

I wonder how many in the audience have never had a gun in their homes or shot a gun before, I'm rather curious.

This is part of the problem. People who have no connection to firearms see no issue on banning them. To them their life won’t change any because they aren’t losing their guns (because they own none). And they think maybe it will reduce violence. To them there’s no downside.

As long as people don’t have areas they can shoot or people that introduce them to shooting sports this will continue to be a problem.

Take away their connections with alcohol, recreational drugs, and abused opioids, and their lives will change. And deaths will be reduced by multiples of what banning guns would do.

I thought Dana Loesch did a fantastic job and I'm happy the NRA sent her to the townhall. While I don't like a lot of what Rubio said, I'm glad he was there, he tried to communicate and educate. Unlike Nelson or Deutch, at least he tried to answer the questions posed to him, and was open to discussion. I don't understand how Nelson is a US Senator. That he is one of 100 voted into a powerful position scares the hell out of me. I fear for the future of our country with leaders like him and voters that put him into office.

I think 1-3 years we'll see an AWB for people under 21.

3-5 years will be a full AWB.

5-10 years will modify the AWB with confiscation.

Then there will be a 5-10 year gap before they go after handguns to make sure there is enough time that no one can complain that "You said you just wanted assault rifles."

That was my whole point. People have a different response to banning things depending on whether they personally will be impacted. Sure we could ban alcohol again and reduce all sorts of crime and deaths. But people who use would resist saying it’s not fair to punish those who consume and don’t cause any trouble. We make the same argument with firearms. But because there are large sets of the population who don’t own guns they don’t see the argument the same way.

You were glad Rubio was there? He just set the whole congress up for magazine capacity limits and outlawing all semi-automatic rifles. He should not have been there.

It was a nightmare. How many times can one say it. When you have a mob united on anything, especially as emotional as this, you change no minds. It was almost as if he was shamed in to throwing a bone or two.. what a disaster.

Rubio did a bad job, but he had no choice but to be there. Those are his constituents. Imagine what they would have said about him if he'd been absent.
