For a 22 LR you could talk me into a pump or lever. Not interested in a center fire.
I like slam-firing my Taurus Thunderbolt in .45 Colt. It's very satisfying.

Really? I love my Remington 760 pump in 30-06.

But would you take a 9422 over a 39???
Those are two of the finest .22 rifles ever made and both of them being lever action I think it's a fair comparison...
I've owned both and I would take the Winchester for the name, bluing, and collectors status, but the Marlin for the accuracy.
Newest addition. A Winchester 9422M (22 Mag) produced in New Haven, Connecticut circa 1998/1999 ...
With friends, a Browning T-bolt with maple stock (22 Mag), a Browning BL-22 (22LR), and Colt Frontier Scout with interchangeable 22LR and 22 Mag cylinders.
The 9422M is a thing of beauty up close. It is all blued steel and walnut. The receiver is milled, and is built to the production standards of the pre-1964 Winchester Model 94s, with arguably closer attention to detail. In heft, it is between the Browning BL-22 and one of my Model 94s in 30-30. The balance seems superb, and it of course points like a Model 94. I can't wait to get it out to the range with my boys.

As promised to Fidelity, my Grandfathers Winchester 1906 takedown. Flawless operation but needs gone through to make sure it is ok to shoot. One day....
PJ, thanks for sharing a little bit of personal history with the pics. I'd love to eventually get an early production Winchester pump 22.More photos. The notches on the stock were supposedly rabbits he took with it as a kid hunting with his father.
Lol, as I mentioned the 9422 has been on my lust list for several years, and I was already putting in time looking for pump 22s, so I figured that I could look for both. I got lucky (found exactly what I wanted at a price that was acceptable).Congrats!!! Great to see you got what you were looking for!!! They are a thing of beauty! I know I will never part with mine while I'm still breathing!

I don't know what it is about fall, but I love this time of year for shooting a 22LR outdoors, especially if one needs to work an action.

I need to try a Marlin 39.
Remington 760s are positively badass. I'd love a carbine length one in a thirty caliber round. Would be a formidable trunk gun.
