You're a terrible enabler and a much better photographer.

The whole "you should get one" between us needs to stop.

Haha. It really has been more of a "hey thanks for letting me shoot that, I have to have one!" "Yeah, you should get one."

:lol2: We truly are a bad influence on each other but hey...what are friends for? :D

Must be nice to live in VA and be American enough to by AKs

If you're referring to the rifles in Wayne1one's photo, they're Czech vz.58/2008s, which, although chambered in the classic 7.62x39 AK round and have a similar silhouette, are—believe it or not!—cash 'n' carry in Maryland.

What's the going rate for one of those?

    Like $600 for a VZ 2008 and about $1200 for a VZ 58

$600 sounds good. I might have to track one of these down.

Edit: did some research and it seems the consensus for the VZ 2008 is it's very unreliable? And no customer service whatsoever from century?

I wish I was better at photography, these don't do them justice.

It was a long, long wait but totally worth it. I've got several suppressors in the pipeline, can't wait for my NFA queue to clear.

What consensus is that? I've not heard a bad thing about them. I have about 5,000 through mine without a hiccup.

The inter webs. Just random forums and sites that claim the 58 is far superior than the 2008 and that the 2008 seems like a good deal but is more trouble than it's worth.

Not my claims. I want one!

I'm also running a MAX-11K on my M11/9. Hell of an upper, makes it super easy to control the gun for bursts and singles. Stock is a spare ACE folder on a USMG adapter.

I've got >3,000 rounds through this one and, excepting a stock hinge nut that fell off during an extended shoot, it's been 100% reliable. The vz 58/2008's also ~one pound lighter and a bit more accurate than the average AK; and, unlike most AKs, the vz's magazine (which is unique to the vz) holds the bolt open after the last round.

Bottom line: it looks like an "evil, classroom spraying" AK, so it outta scare the bejesus outta most lefties like an AK, yet, somehow, it's cash 'n' carry in Maryland—the logic-free state. How can anyone pass that up?!

Now I look at guns through the lens of "does this make a good silencer host?"
Duffy's was able to get ahold of two CZ 527s in 7.62x39 and I had to take one home. I was stoked to be able to put my Saker 762 on it.
Our gunsmith John threaded and set back the front sight. He opened up a SilencerCo 5.56 Trifecta flash hider to allow the .30 cal projectile, because the smaller 1/2x28 threading allowed him to not have to "build up" the barrel before threading.

The top is my rifle, the bottom is the stock version.

Finally got my AAC 762-SDN-6 Suppressor. While the Remington 700 is not the intended host (the SBR is still navigating its way through ATF), I added an AAC brake to the end of it so that it could use the suppressor if I wanted to... because why not.

    Thanks to John at Duffy's,

This rifle got a ceracoat, embedded stock, and he did the threading and attached the brake.
