I have purchased many handguns over the last few years.. but I finally have a favorite. the new XDs is fantastic. the trigger, while a little heavy, breaks clean and has a great reset. 5+1 .45acp with a 7 round coming soon from what I hear.

the gun shoots great. I thought it was going to be as hard to shoot as my LCP initially, but it proved itself very accurate. shot about 250 rounds during the hour session. there was no hand fatigue and there were no malfunctions.

    pros are:
    size
    price with included accessories
    .45 caliber for pocket gun
    accuracy

    cons are:
    lac of aftermarket accessories/holsters/magazines
    5 round capacity
it violently ejects brass in random places..

the first two are not critical issues in my opinion.

pics will come eventually.. working from an ipad til the new laptop shows up..

thats a really nice carry size. i wonder how it would stack up against the nano and shield, even though they are both 9mm. i guess this is the new thing; single stack pistols. (guess what theyve been around since 1911;))

I think the Shield in .40 would get my pick over the XDs in .45 -- round count, 2nd shot reset. The Springfield is nice looking, but I'd go USA over Croatia, too.

Where does your pinky end up...is there a rest on the mag or is it just underneath. Apparently it didn't bother you enough to put it it the cons.

Thanks for posting! You know you're the reason I ended up with an XDm...:)

I would have a hard time deciding between this and the shield... I have heard the shield is unpleasant to shoot in the .40 version... Its the same with the Walther PPS. I own a 9mm PPS and have shot the .40.. Pretty uncomfortable. I have read that the XDS is very comfortable for being such a small gun shooting such a large round... So for me it becomes a caliber question... And i think if im going to have a limited amount of rounds in a single stack mag, id rather have 5+1 .45 than 7+1 9mm... I love my PPS but the XDS is an attractive package if it gets approved.

This gun looks awesome. My choices for concealed carry if md can ever get their act together would be either this or the lcr in 357 mag. I think either would great ccw.

    Stinky,
Why yes as I own several XD pistols. Though I would not use any of them as a primary concealed carry holster. I have a few depending on the situation... Crossbreed super tuck, Galco Summer Comfort, or a High Noon Hidden Ally.

I have competed in IDPA and Steel Matches for several years using only the XD Gear holster. It works fine for that application.

    YMMV
