To clarify one point, you do have to register handguns and any banned long guns (possessed before 10/1/13) you bring, but you don't have to register long guns which are not on the ban list. A single fee ($10???) covers everything you have to register.

Actually, come to think of it, I don't think you have to register a damn thing! You are not establishing Maryland residency, right? Only those establishing residency have to register their handguns.

Also, it seems Maryland is now Shall Issue, so you can join the stampede to get your carry permit.
