So far I've tried subs from Sig and from Blazer. Same problem with both: the copper jacket is fracturing either out of the barrel, while still in the tube or both. So far no major issue other than having to shake the little pieces of copper out after shooting. The obvious concern is that at some point a large enough piece of the jacket is going to fracture so as to change the bullet trajectory and cause a baffle strike.

Looking for any recommendation on a round that is proven not to have this issue.

    Thanks.

Dumb question but I’ve had this issue cause I’m an idiot and forgot to ream out my muzzle device. Are you sure your muzzle device is not causing the issue.

    This.

And also I have been handed "problems" and, in closer examination (or barrel slugging) found that whoever threaded the barrel managed to deform the muzzle end where the threads are.

I had a similar experience with the blazer 147gr. Look into the Federal syntech 150gr. It's all I use now when shooting suppressed 9mm. It has a polymer jacket, cleanest stuff I've used.

That’s what I use. Great stuff! Remains subsonic through carbines as well. Very clean

I have never had this happen and I shoot all sorts of stuff through my cans. The only time something close occurred was when I shot 300 BO with a .223 front cap on. :o
Yea, me too. Never happened to me with multiple cans, hosts and ammo. I have shot all kinds of subs and 147gr standard ammo through them.
Do you have an alignment rod to check the axis of the can to the bore?

I used to buy a lot of the fiocchi 158gr stuff but it seems hard to get these days. And when available people want crazy money.

Cheaper to roll my own. I use whatever 147 or 150gr pills I can get in quantity that are jacketed or powder coated.

For practical applications, I use 147 ranger sxt or speer gold dot.

There are better, if maybe not faster, ways to convert your end cap to shoot .308 diameter rounds through it you know.

Hey, the worst part is that I have a .30 Cal cap! I'll tell you this, Rugged makes a damn strong suppressor. ;)
That they do! I love my Obsidian 45.

Well, maybe you can use it as a 6.5mm cap. Usually the hole is about a caliber step or two bigger than the caliber you are actually shooting (22 caps are actually about .25" IIRC, 2.64 caps are more like 2.80, .308 caps are about .320). Maybe not as good as a dedicated 6.5mm cap, but better than a .308 cap for 6.5mm is probably.

Assuming the cap is not just total trash now. Might want to write in heat resistant paint pen on it.

I only have the max caliber size caps for my cans, because I don't want to forget, but I've considered if I do get a 22 cap for my Omega 300, writing on them with temp resistant paint pen 22 and 30 to hopefully keep me from being middle aged and forgetful.

I had been planning that for about a year. It's done now.

Blazer is garbage. I've shot nothing but 147g reloads through my can(Surefire Ryder9 Ti) with zero problems. Have you check barrel concentricity?
