With a MD HGP, is CCW ok while fishing at Myrtle Grove WMA? I’ve been to their site multiple times and don’t see it referenced as a “Park”, but a friend wants to start fishing there and asked my advice.

    That’s my question I guess.

My friend stated he reached out to DNR asking if CCW was legal there and said he received no reply but I didn’t see the email, don’t know if it went to the correct address, etc....

Great question my suggestion would be to call one of the individuals below.

10-408 says you may openly carry it and must be bow hunting: (As I read it fishing with it is out)(makes no mention of a W&C holder...so I dunno..it's state property.)

This reg is just for western md where you are likely to encounter a 4 legged predator in southern md you have a lot higher chance to run into a 2 legged predator. This has nothing to do with the question asked.

Actually what is says is when bow hunting in Western Maryland, you may open carry a handgun if you are not otherwise prohibited to carry it. It has nothing to do with WMA use. Or fishing.

My limited understanding is that WMAs are not considered parks or forests of Maryland, where carry is otherwise prohibited (except the exception for bow hunting in Western Maryland, or if hunting with the firearm in the appropriate season).
