I have been wanting a CMP M1 Garand for a while and in March I decided to get one and sent off the required paperwork.

I picked up an HRA M1 and it was delivered today.

I've never seen one up close until today and I was surprised how heavy this rifle was.

I'd say that's a memorable and appropriate event to commemorate D-Day!

I read the CMP eligibility requirements.
    1. Proof of Citizenship
    2. Age
    3. Membership

I guess having a Military ID isn't enough since that doesn't show proof of citizenship. I'm guessing they wanted a Passport or Birth Certificate?

My thought is to send them the paperwork they require motorized or delivered yourself before anyone heads out to either CMP. They do keep the information for 5 years or so.

Armed ferret, what reason did they give you for being ineligible? Your right, military ID does satisfy some of the requirements, I think there is still a form that has to be notarized but I thought they had a notary at the store.
