Does anyone know if there any laws on transporting ones firearm collection when moving from say Maryland to another state? Or how they should be transported?

I just did a fair bit of reasearch on this. My understanding is that it is perfectly legal to transport them for the purposes of changing residence but you must observe each state's regulations regarding transport as you pass through them and any local laws in your new place of permanent residence.

In my case I opted to observe the most restrictive state regulations for the entire duration of my journey to avoid accidental transgression as I passed through different states. Everything unloaded and locked in a case in the trunk is probably the best way to do it. I am also adding trigger locks just to err on the side of caution.
