If an individual has a Maryland CCW permit and moves out of state is their permit still valid in Maryland until it expires? When it comes time to renew do you then just apply for a non-resident carry permit?

Maryland doesn’t have a non resident permit (yet, anyway). Your permit is good until it expires, unless it was issued with restrictions that your move makes permanent (like, “While working for …”).

If your G&S that got you the permit is still true when renewal time comes, you’re all set. Just renew. Street address, even state of residence, doesn’t matter.

Hard to say what will happen if we get a favorable ruling on NYSRP next month or so. If G&S goes away, they may indeed spin up some sort of NR permit. That’s a long ways off.

I believe you will need to send a modification request with your new address. Other than that your gtg untill it expires.

You are obligated by MSP regs to report a change of address or employment. COMAR 29.03.02.09 Attached. If you do not, it will prejudice any attempt to renew and is grounds for immediate revocation
