Thanks, for rotating it. I couldn't figure it out.
On your original picture, right click on mouse and it should bring up a menu.
Find rotation right and rotation left.
Select one using left click on mouse. If you need to move it 90 degrees more, select it again.
When you hit save, it will store the orientation correctly.
What date is on it? If it's 1945, it's gold.
Once the M44 was put into full time production (1944), M38s were issued with M44 stocks. The Russians weren't going to make two different carbine stocks.
This makes the M44 stock correct on 1944 and 1945 M38s.
Once the post war refurb program started, there was no rhyme or reason to which stock the actions were placed in. So either stock is correct for a refurb.
