I agree, the follow up citations were over the top and only proved that it was personal. I can't imagine how many interviews have been conducted in the area without a citation being issued. Why this time? Even Ray Charles can see why.......

The chief needs to go at a minimum. I mean really, to have the Chief of Police come out to cite you for standing on a sidewalk. Come on now. It's easy to see that Jeff was targeted that second day and the PP was targeted the night before.

If this were any other group, there would be such an outrage, it would be making international news.

Shame on the state of Maryland, shameful.

The chief was personally involved in this? I must have missed that. I thought Pope and his six pack of responding officers were the only ones actually making the arrest and issuing charges?
If the chief is involved, they do not need training, they need a change of leadership.

He was directly involved the next day when the additional charges were issued. As is my understanding of the story by Rack&Roll

The chief issued more citations after Rack conducted an interview at LM the following day.

The case will only be settled out of court if the plaintiffs agree to it .

They have a very strong case. Why settle if the truth is hidden?

Pretty sure if the Chief ordered it, then vicarious liability stands and the agency(state) will pay the judgment.
If it is found the Sgt. acted on his own and the agency doesn't back him, then it's on him and I doubt this cat has professional liability insurance to cover it.

But I really don't know. I have always had insurance in case the agency didn't back my actions.

    exactly

The guy in the background of the first pic is a KNOWN ne'er-do-well, and should likely be shunned at ALL cost.

that donk actually asked the lady there about coffee and when told it was only for delegates and staff, he then had the audacity to claim it was the people's coffee since it belongs to the people of MD. The nerve of that guy. LOL Luv ya, Eric. hahahahaha

I don’t think the defendant in a 1983 suit can claim QI. The judgement is assessed to the person, not his employer

But as we all know IANAL

I agree. This will be up to Jeff and Kevin to decide. If they want us to know, they'll tell us, but this is a very personal matter and I don't expect them to discuss this matter in an open forum.

I think it's a slam dunk, particularly after the second day. This took the matter from a misunderstanding to a vendetta.

    I think it's that simple.

That would be true if not for the Chief's actions the next day. This was not a misunderstanding. The Chief's actions proved that.

His actions were on his own and say nothing about what originated from the Chief on the initial arrest. He could have done that after the fact to try and bolster(cover for) the bs arrest. And all of this should be found out.

Completely agree. Any and all future actions are theirs and their legal team to decide. And if they want the facts to remain private, that is also their decision as well.

Reading between the lines, the States Attorney's office decided to stop this nonsense and wouldn't back the actions of the Capital Police, including the Chief. If there's any truth to Ramirez being the one that told on site officers to go after the PP, given that he's running for a States Attorney position elsewhere in MD, one wonders if he would have the same level of integrity as an SA as the one in Annapolis.

I was there with R&R and DL on Tuesday during the interviews.

Chief Wilson and Lt. Labs came up to us and informed that there were additional citations and Lt. Labs escorted them both to the other side of LM and an awaiting cruiser. The Chief stayed and talked with Del Rey and myself during this time. This was when I asked the Chief if there had been a complaint called in by a pedestrian, driver, legislator, aide, lobbyist, etc.. and the Chief told me that there were no complaints called in and that Sgt Pope acted on his own as the supervisor of the shift.

That sound you hear is the Chief throwing Pope under the bus....

Typically Senators and Delegates will come out of their respective office buildings, cross the street and proceed to the State House on either side of LM. On the Monday night of the arrests, while DL was minding the signs by himself while everyone else was parking, Ramirez came out of the Senate office building early and by himself. He crossed the sidewalk, took a left and went towards DL who called him by name, shook his hand and thanked him for hosting us at his coffee clatch the previous Saturday.

Ramirez then proceeded down the sidewalk, took a right on the Delegate side of LM and up towards the State House.

Less than 5 mins later Sgt Pope confronts DL.

    Anyone believe in coincidences?

I call BS on that story too. Pope was nervous at the time he initiated the interaction with Jeff. You could tell this wasn't his idea. Either that or he was a mall cop before joining the force. I will let the fellow officers discuss his body language, but just in his voice alone, you could tell he was nervous.

You're right, the Chief threw Pope under the bus and tractor trailer that was following.

WOW, that's new information. That is as damning as it could be without a confession. WOW!
