Any update from today.
See Count V of the amended complaint at p.39Maryland County Code § 57-11, as amended by Bill 4-21 violates the Second Amendment to the Constitution in so far as it purports to regulate or ban the sale, transfer, possession or transport of any firearm or any ammunition with 100 yards of a place of public assembly as that term is defined by Bill 4-21. To the extent that Maryland Code, Criminal Law § 4-209(b) purports to authorize the regulations imposed by Bill 4-21, it is likewise unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.
MSI filed an amended complaint a few days ago. Old motions were against the original complaint. So the court tells the county they won’t dismiss the case, but tells MSI the case is moot? Or just a motion is moot? What does this mean in the real life context of the law and the suit against it?
So this is the court saying the old complaint is moot? Just recognizing the existence of the amended complaint? Sorry to ask dumb questions - these rabbit holes are deep. Does this tell us anything about the case in broader terms?MSI filed an amended complaint a few days ago. Old motions were against the original complaint.
