Whats a good recipe for removing the remnants of the sabot? I have tried... brake cleaner, mineral spirits, sweets, Butch's bore shine, Kroil, Acetone, hot soapy water and probably a few other concoctions.
I'm running .452 pistol bullets with the black long sabots in savage ml110.
Range loading is fine with a range rod, but after one or two shots the bore gets sticky and makes a follow up shot hard to load.
Has anyone tried the sabot cleaner from Brownell's or even the product they offer for shotgun wad residue.
Accuracy does not suffer, it improves once the bore is slightly fouled with the nylon. I can get a 2 1/2" group at 150 yards from a rested position with xtp's and 40g of 4759.
Regular cleaning between strings improves loading with a brush and lacquer thinner but I want to clean the bore more thoroughly.
Any idea's or a best practice that someone is currently using.
Thanks for looking.
