Finally got a chance to take pics of my first 98k.
This example appears to be a Semi-Kriegsmodell and is missing the rear band screw, can't find the little bugger anywhere.

All numbers match. Some parts have no numbers or marks.

Also posted this little gem on k98kforum.

Enjoy! and let me know what you think!

Geez. That is a gorgeous rifle you have there. When and where did you pick this up, and if you don't mind asking, how much?

I picked it up from a very good friend at a very reasonable price.

Haven't shot it yet, i'm not sure if i should or not seeing as the screw is missing in the rear band, idk.

Worst case scenario your handguard comes flying off. Are there original replacement screws available?

Thanks for the comments! I've been unable to find an original screw anywhere, Numrich has the P/N in their inventory but are out of stock and it's been that way for a while. Another member on k98kforum has made repro's in the past, checking with him! I want to keep this rifle as original as possible without any mods, if i can find an original screw or repro i will use it.

    Looks nice.

I would get a repro to keep the handguard on while cruising the gunshows for original parts. There is a guy at Chantilly (think he goes to york) on the front left corner who has a lot of WWII era parts. You will pay a premium but he usually has about anything M1, Garand, 1903, Mauser, Luger.
