We should be maintaining a professional, polite attitude toward EVERYONE. Anit's are already flooding media with stories about "dangerous, paranoid gun nuts", we should not be giving them ammunition. We are like the big scary guy, who has to be extra nice around people, because he intimidates them. The last think we need to do is act threatening.

I dont need to appeal to anyone when defending my rights and it has nothing to do with getting my way!

As a proud member of the MDDF, it does take some effort to join and be active. I do it to give back to my State and my neighbors.

However, while I want to continue helping my neighbors, my State is seriously testing my resolve. I see Delegate Dwyer's call for the formation of this as an excellent opportunity to satisfy both my desires. I see the Volunteer Militia as a force that would be organized under some official body of the State (avoiding legal pitfalls) and be used for the protection of the citizens by government implementation of unconstitutional laws. The MDDF is no longer for that. It is a professional group meant to augment various aspects of the Maryland National Guard. And they are very effective at that mission.

I see a need for what I've described and am all for it.

I signed up also to see where this goes! My wife signed up as well.
I hope he is not being disingenuous about protecting our 2nd amendment rights and other freedoms. Starting a militia is something to be taken quite seriously and is the right way to go about restoring the freedoms that we are losing day by day.
Count my family and friends in! Good for him for taking it upon himself organizing such a movement!
I am also probably on some list somewhere but at this point I really don't care! I love my country and I am a patriot if that makes me a terrorist so be it

I think I need more information! I think there are a lot of terms he could have used outside of militia but he chose that word.

If I can have your permission, I think I will hold off until there is more info that this is in fact 100% peacefull despite the term he used.

He chose that word "militia" because that is the word used in the Maryland code. I joined his email list and I seriously doubt an elected official would walk on his private parts wearing golf shoes by forming the "militia" and asking for members if such action violated the law. He is a high value target for attacks from the anti-gun people and if he is willing to confront them, I will support him. I believe he is asking for our support to let the anti's know that we are still here and watching them.

I don't think the legislators banned the 1st amendment YET.
