A member of my club called me concerning his M1 Garand trigger issue. He can dry fire the trigger just fine. When he loads a clip, the first round fires fine w/normal trigger pull but subsequent rounds have a HEAVY trigger pull and very hard to squeeze off round. He stated that everything was fine until he pulled the trigger assy and cleaned. I am not that familiar with the Garand triggers but know thy are similar to the M1A's. I was thinking that he has an issue with the trigger spring or with the hammer hooks. Anybody have any ideas.?

Something about how the hammer and sear are resetting?

There are powerful forces, stresses, and torques at work when the rifle is fired, compared to when the action is cycled by hand.
