If they are not kept overnight they are not required to be logged. Overnight... they must be logged.
As far as the 77R, you already own your firearms so there is no transfer, no paperwork.
I am still doing 80% engraving/serializations. I was engraving guns long before these laws were ever written and am still doing forearm engraving.
