Sorry for the out of focus photo. Infront of the barrel, is 3 or 4 days worth of lint accumulated from pocket-carrying this lcp in an open-front kydex holster in 2 or 3 different pairs of newly washed jeans.

Here’s my question or concern: how will this affect function if this much lint is in the barrel and I had to shoot this LCP II in a defense situation? Will it kaboom? Is it unsafe? - it’s loaded with 6+1 underwood extreme defenders, if that matters. Thanks

That's not really an obstruction. It won't matter.

A real obstruction would be sticking the muzzle of your shotgun in mud, and getting it full for an inch or so. That makes for a bad day.

    Thanks! Makes me feel better.

I just filled the barrel of my 43x with about 2X the amount of dryer lint. I fired the shot and it just gave completely evaporated.

Good to know. Maybe if this were a glock, I would be more confident. The LCP's barrel is crazy thin compared to glock.

I pocket carry my LCP II and LCP Max on a daily basis (not simultaneously) , have for a couple years. I've never seen lint like that in my barrels. Maybe try some different pants? LoL

I also unload / rack slide on a nearly daily basis, so that might help the lack of lint accumulation ?

Get a Sticky holster and it will print less and not allow any foreign matter into your gun.

How hard are you racking the slide and unloading the gun that you’re physically ejecting debris from the barrel?

I try to do it every week and find around the same amount of lint.
    I was being a smart-aleck.

Dust is considered a combustible, proven in WWII where roofs would explode off of a structure when ignited.

However, there will not be enough in a barrel to cause any harm.

While I guess you could call this gun cotton, it's not the same as nitrocellulose. ;)

I'm not sure why you are unloading on a daily basis though.

Use the crevice tool on your vacuum and suck that stuff out of your pockets from time to time.

New jeans especially have a lot of lint and even sand from the pre washing left in the pockets I’ve found.

Not necessarily a Sticky Holster per se , but yes , look into a pocket holster with enclosed muzzle end .

No , that's not enough lint to be a Bore Obstruction . But that much lint getting into the internals can lead to problems .

    That's a prodigious amount of lint !

    Because I can?

In all honesty, it depends on if I'm crashing at my place or a friends. At my place, I have a bedside digital safe I throw it in so no unloading needed. If I crash at a friends place, I unload the gun, lock the slide back, and put a cable lock through it.
