LOL at people complaining about attentive RSO's. Inattentive/Nonexistent RSOs is usually my main complaint about public ranges.

Never had a problem there. Wife and kids and I used to shoot there regularly before we became church goers we'd shoot Sunday mornings and eat at Denny's down the road. My son got his range card there when he was 6-1/2. They told me it was some kind of record. I got more grief from the range nazis at AGC up in Marriottsville than I ever got there. Just too far to drive often (through the neverending construction zone) but I still make it down maybe twice a year.

Seriously, the NRA range is the model for civilian ranges.

Modern, Clean with a very professional cadre.

As some one mentioned, the ROs just don't issue you a command. They actually explain and teach you the reason why they issue you the command.
And that alone is a big plus in my book.

We still rip on 13ers, what makes you think we won't rip on 14ers in 2015?

    :rasp::moon:

Since the NRA range allows rapid fire, drawing from a holster, and use of large caliber long guns, I am highly concerned about the other users, so having the range nannies supervise tightly is necessary. If my local range allowed rapid fire and holster work, then I wouldn't need to use the NRA range.

How large of a caliber on those long guns?

I wish they had more lanes.. Too long a wait .
Nice range tho, much nicer than the other indoor ranges in the area.
Also, you can [I believe] fire steel cased ammo [Wolf Wpa] there as long as its lead core.

Probably not Tula though, since Tula FMJ's attract a magnet.

IIRC, they do but they will cut a bullet open if you ask them to. So jacketed ammo is ok as long as it's not steel core

That's encouraging. I have a feeling I may have just found a new place to shoot my Garand and M1A.

Problem is, the inexpensive 7.62 NATO from Walmart pulls a magnet.:sad20:

They have a pair of bolt cutters behind the counter. I've watched them do it.

There is no restriction on loaded magazines. That's the only way I show up. You can't get more than an hour of lane time if people are waiting. I'm not wasting precious minutes loading magazines.

are you referring to ZQI ?

prove to them it's not steel core and you're GTG I think.

Are we talking about NRA? If so they don't inspect ammo. The usual stuff that "pulls a magnet" such as Wolf and Tula is fine at the NRA.

    Yep.

Tula pulls a magnet but Wolf doesn't.

Funny, given the thread title. Other than location I'm not really seein' any downside so far.

I have watched them cut ammo open.

Their backstop was badly damaged twice by steel core. If there's any question, they'll look at it.

The 7.62x51 ZQI is not the same as the 5.56, it will not pull a magnet. I just recently shot at MSAR and it passed with flying colors!

Tula is good to go. That's all I shoot in my AK.

This! I shoot .223 and 7.62x39 tula in there all the time!
