Just picked up my newest baby, a Ruger LCR in .357 Magnum, from the boys over at Engage Armament. As always, thanks to Andy for setting me up. Can't wait to get some extended range time with it.

Based on my experiences with hotter .38s, I would hate to see what a full power .357 feels like in one of those things.

Then again, I'm kind of a wimp like that. :o

Oh I'll bet that thing will kick like a dirty mule!

Let's hear a range report! I'm doing lessons with a lady who got the LCR in .38 so I'd like to see the comparison.

Ya, I don't think being a wimp is the problem here with that hand cannon.

Please try to get video of a shot fired AM, late afternoon or cloudy day. I love the fireballs from shorty .357's! :)

Trigger pull feels the same (as far as I can tell) as the .38. Probably one of the best out-of-the-box double action pulls I've felt. It's slightly larger and 4 ounces heavier than the .38, too, but it's definitely pocketable.

    Hello,

Speaking from a terminal ballistics viewpoint of the "standard" defensive shooting scenario, I would expect the muzzle blast to do as much or more damage than the projectile itself.

The .357 has the added benefit of being able to use .38spl +P without undue wear.

Now, a question for the OP: I had an LCP and liked it only for the fact that I could carry it when I couldn't carry a real gun. It got traded off.

I'm wondering if you have carried this fully loaded yet? If so, subjectively speaking, can you tell it's there? I could not with the LCP, and that was its redeeming feature.

I am trying to decide between an LCR or another KT or LCP, and while I prefer the added power of the .38+P/.357 over that of the .380, "carryability" would be first on my list for this size gun.

    Thanks!

    Josh
