LC as in .45 Long Colt? What ammo are you comparing it to? It's no more expensive than most other revolver rounds.

Lake City is the company that makes the 5.56 military ammo and what we get is over run, according to what I can find. Before the shortage of ammo I was purchasing in bulk (1000 round lots) and was paying $393.93 (including shipping) for it. This was the 62gr type. I have 1000 on back order for this price at this time. Maybe I'll get it sometime before winter sets in again.

Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is a government-owned, contractor operated facility in Independence Missouri. It was built by Remington in 1941, later operated by Olin, and now by ATK (Federal's parent company).

It belongs to the US Army Joint Munitions Command, under the US Army Materiel Command.
