I apologize if this has already been covered (I searched).

Come Oct1, what sort of new hoops will MD residents that already have a firearm purchase under their belt have to jump through?

I know we are exempted from the training requirement.

I believe we still have to get fingerprinted.

If there anything else that we'll have to do that we don't have to do today?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Q: Do I need a license (with fingerprinting) to keep my pistols?
    A: No.

    Thank You, EL1127.

It seems we'll have to get a "handgun qualification license," which will entail getting fingerprinted but we'll be exempted from the training requirement.

A buddy that recently moved to Marylandistan, who is already very familiar with firearms (i.e., doesn't need training), was asking if there's a good reason to purchase a firearm before Oct1 -- it seems the answer is "yes": doing so will get him into the training-exclusion club.

    Thanks again.

    NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE.

The regulations have not been written.

The MSP cannot figure out how to apply/interpret/enforce the regulations until they are written.

Correct, the regulations have not been written.

What is written are the hard exemptions in the law not open for interpretation, such as already owning a regulated firearm. Which is my guess, why the MSP is slow-rolling the regulated transfers.
