I just got a message from John saying he was voted out and a fellow by the name of Gary Woods has taken over as Legislative VP. The message didn't seem like it is going to be a smooth transition.

How is this going to help/hurt our work on GA issues this year?

John is an invaluable resource. He has been doing this for longer than just about anyone. I talked to him the other night. He is not sure what he is going to do. I can't imagine he won't be involved in some way. I don't know Gary Woods, he may be a great guy, but he has enormous shoes to fill. It's going to be very hard to do that.

I'm sure JJ's email berating everybody who thought Courtney White and Patty West were doing a terrible job on the HPRB didn't endear him to many folks.

I agree that John is a valuable resource.......if he was cooperating with anyone besides himself.

The change was long overdue and Gary has already begun reaching out to other organizations and members of the 2A community. This is a step in the right direction. I pray that Gary can live up to the role and help unite the 2A community. Like I said, this is LONG overdue.

John Josselyn has always been super dedicated to the Second Amendment and what it stands for. He saw many years ago that we here in Maryland must ever vigilant in our fight. He had complied the facts needed to fight the antis tooth and nail. Also he made up one of the best email contact systems around, with the click of a mouse you can send a letter to everybody in Annapolis. I have served with him on the Board of Balto Co Game & Fish for 25+ years. We must now work even harder then we have before as it will take quite a few to take his place in the fight for our firearms rights. It's sad day that the petty politics over at AGC between the President and Trustees, as an outsider looking in they are hurting the cause more then they know. I just hope the new LVP is half as dedicated as John. If not then we are F#$&ed. This coming session is going to be a ball buster. Chris

I'm going to disagree with the idea that John didn't cooperate the the other 2A orgs. I have been right in the middle of all of this since 2012. I don't know Gary, so can't comment. We'll see.

Disagree as well. Gary has enormous shoes to fill. Here's hoping he can do that, and more.

I have personal experience with the lack of cooperation. I acknowledge his usefulness and that he is a wealth of information, but it was time. With such a large membership, AGC was not being utilized to it's potential. This may or may not have been as a result of JJ, but he certainly did not help/encourage cross pollination of efforts, in my personal opinion and experience.

    This +10
I have oly the highest respect for John and the work he does. His understanding of the inner workings of the regulatory quagmire in this State was/is a valuble resource that will be missed. I don't know Gary Woods, but as previously stated, he has big shoes to fill. I certainly wish John the best.

John was the LVP for a lot of years and I always saw him in Annapolis. That takes a lot of time and dedication! Remember, the LVP is not a paid position. We may have had a few differences over the years but that is just life. I wish him well in what ever he does in the future.

I know your issues with him. I understand where you are coming from. It doesn't negate the decades of work he has done. You are making it personal. Hopefully Gary will step up and fill the void left. It's going to be tough.

I agree with you. Not disagreeing that he was valuable. I am not making anything personal, I am not a member of AGC and never spoke to anyone about not re-electing him. I have no personal issues with John. I just know of some more recent events and his behavior. Information was not freely shared when is should have been. There is a time for discretion and a time for sharing of information and thoughts. There are others around who have had many more experiences than I have, so mine may be an isolated incident.

Speaking to me, about Maryland Shooters, 2 years ago.

There are things that ACG's LVP did well, and there are things that over recent years he failed to evolve on. In the 1990's email news letters were ground breaking in terms of outreach, now it's a whole different ballgame. Belittling the largest 2A community in the state isnt a good idea.

From my communications with Gary Woods, things between him and JJ are friendly, and they are working together on several issues while Gary gets up to speed.

Gary has communicated with me in the last week, more than JJ has in the past 10 years, and not because i reached out to him, but because he is reaching out to others.
Gary has also ended JJ's policy of not allowing msi and agc to recuit each other's members... if you didnt know about that policy, now you do, and maybe you'll understand why that was a problem

That's good. I do hope he succeeds.

Garrison invited and John Josselyn and his wife attended our Annual Garrison Rifle & Revolver club meeting last night as special guests to show John appreciation and thank them both in person for their decades of service.
