Iver Johnson is back- with a 1911

Walking around the gun show here in New Bern this morning, I spied a selection of new 1911s with a familiar old name on them....Iver Johnson. They even had the "owl" motif on them.

I know they are not made by the old company, and just the name has been revived. They are made in the Philippines. The pistols felt solid and well made.

Initial reviews seem to be mixed.

When my grandfather passed away last year I was helping my dad clean out his place and found a Iver Johnson break top revolver that I dated to 1907 through its serial number. My dad did not even know there had been a gun in the house he grew up in.

I wonder how many 1911s are being produced each year in the Philippines?

From the picture in thier website....they apprear to be the same guns that are being imported by ATI which means they are mfg by Metro Arms. this is my guess if they are made in the Pines

The old (now defunct) Essex company told me they were casting frames for them. After the last two frames I bought new from them and lack of warranty for being greatly out of spec... Just an FYI.
