    All was good, no rust.
Then I found somethings I forgot about.

With the covid chaos going on I went wild on C&R auctions.
When they arrived, into the bunker they went; maybe with some modification.

That was about two years ago or more. And since then I was in MD working.

Anyhow here are the first two:
Double stamped Luger with straw and more.
And a Colt; that I swapped out the grips.
I can provide more pics if requested.

It was like Christmas for me as I had totally forgotten about them.

If you forgot about them, you probably wouldn’t mind putting them up for adoption? I promise to take good care of them and keep them well-oiled and fed! :D

    Seriously though - gorgeous pieces!

Sorry for asking, but what is a double stamp? Kind of like finding cash in an old jacket!

Per my understanding; others may add.

Post WWI Germany was demilitarized; all firearms turned in. The new Germany was allowed so many rifles, pistols, etc.

So for the stuff they were allowed to keep, they culled through what was turned in, picked out the best parts, and restamped for their new Mil inventory. The one I have is stamped, IIRC 1917 (maybe 13) and 1920, with 20 going into their new Mil inventory.

I like the piece as it's a unique piece of history. But for the Lugar aficionados it's not high on the value list. Kind of like an original as issued M1 vs an arsenal refurbished.

I'll also add that, allegedly but I'll believe it, some of the turned in inventory was listed as destroyed, but actually skimmed off for private purposes such as the Friekorps (sp?), which fought battles with the commies in the streets.

Those Lugers are way overrated jamomatics. I'll swap you a CZ82 for it, even up. Much better gun.
    Nope. ;)

I'm a cheap ass C&R afficianado; not even close to Mawkie, SMustangs (sp?), Combloc; but I try. Always wanted a Luger since I was a youngster; actually, in the market for more Lugers.

Tell you what, what can you offer for a fine vintage Ruger P-85? Now that's a fine vintage robust firearm to add to your collection.
Impounded by the Burbank PD and retrieved by me personally w/o an attorney. A fine pedigree if I do say so myself.

Or an Ortgies 32 with a ground left side slide; it helps correct low left shooting. 32 is a nice shooting round.
    :D

That's because U.S made 9mm is a little milder than German.
If you reload just work up with a chrono till you get reliable functioning with a Military style & weight (115 or so gr) projectile. NOT +p but another 80 psi or so. 34,084 psi, Vs 35,000 psi.

I think Threeband was being facetious. ;)

I can't follow a cooking recipe so no way will I get into reloading.
I know my limitations; reloading is not spaghetti sauce.

I have read that the 30 Luger was quite the chit commercially but I have enough calibers now; don't want to add. That said those 30 Lugers appear to auction with less appeal than 9mm.

I'm in a holding pattern now; C&R license needs to be received, ear needs to heal (I'd post a pic but may incur a ban, nasty), truck needs to be fixed, bunker needs sorting (I have chit I forgot about).
    Life's good!:D
