Individual serial #

Hey there.

I'm wanting to get a nice 1911 as a gift for someone. The key is I want the serial number to be initials and a date.

Do companys like Colt or SW offer this?

I'm not dead set on 1911's however I'd like the firearm to have some American-ness to it.

Ideas?

This. Colt and S&W produce so many guns that they can't logically offer that service. The only companies I know of that do this are custom outfits.

STI and SVI make guns with custom serial numbers.

Many manufacturers will do custom SN's. It is usually done thru their custom shop. Best way to find out what is involved from them is a phone call.
