I didn't get quite that good a deal, but with 11 boxes ordered there was no shipping charge and their "flat fee" was waived. They also threw in a pack of targets, so it should work out pretty well. That's the best price I've seen for Tok food in a long time, and I like reloading PPU brass.

Same here. I use PPU for about everything. Especially 7.62x25 because I have this thing against the Starline cases :mad54::mad54:

I'm wondering if you got a bad batch of Starline brass? I'm still working with some cases that I got from them a couple of years back--never loaded most of them--and believe that they were in spec. I did load, and shoot, quite a few when I first got them, but have been holding the majority in reserve and shooting my new PPU and reloads with that brass.

I may have to check a bag of 500 that I got later and never opened.

Well atleast they fixed it fast and you didn't have any trouble. SOG has always been good to me.

SOG sent their "flyer" with my recent TOK purchase. The 12days of Christmas are listed on their and the M48s are listed at $199. I'm pretty sure the website is acting funky. I figure they are honoring the Advertised price that is on the flyers.

The necks are shorter on the Starline brass. Still haven't figured out where they got their dimensions. It works fine, with most bullets, but with some, that shorter neck is truly annoying.

    Starline: "7.62x25 O.A.L. is .958" to .962"

Almost every other source says .980 or close to it, and PPU and S&B brass reflect that, too.

Has anyone played with the Pakistani Berdan primed 30-06 in enbloc clips? J&G has 240 rounds for $169. That's a good price if it's good ammo. J&G says mon-corrosive but, with any Berdan stuff, I'd be very nervous shooting that stuff in a Garand

There might be some better deals out there. DansAmmo has 320 rounds of the clipped .30-06 POF for $210 (and shipping might be cheaper):

Also the CMP still has 240 rounds of HXP in spam cans for $150, but shipping is an additional whopping $20.

As for reliability, I have never shot the POF .30-06, but it gets so-so reviews on other forums. It does sound like it is better than the 1960s POF .303 British that is floating around.

Thanks. I am interested in this stuff because I am buying a Garand for my dad as a X-Mas gift and he's not a CMP member. I don't know whether he'll feel like joining CMP so I'm trying to find some similar stuff from somewhere else. Too bad CTD sold out of the HXP.

Remember that for CMP surplus ammo, the purchase eligibility requirements aren't as strict. Per the CMP website: "To purchase surplus ammunition the requirement of citizenship and membership in a CMP affiliated organization/association must be met."

So, if he was already a member of an eligible club or joined the M1 Collector's Club for $14, he has the ability to buy surplus ammo from the CMP. Maybe someone else in the family can get him the $25 GCA annual membership?

For commercial ammo from the CMP, the requirements are actually more strict.

There is also this option for new, commercial .30-06:

I took a screen shot of it at $199, just in case they try to charge me $249 on 12/17. Man, I have way surpassed the limit set by my Minister of Sex and Finance.

I think there are three different m48s offered. Stamped parts, milled parts, and sanitized.

Actually, it's the opposite. You just to submit proof of membership in an affiliated club for commercial. For surplus, you also have to be a US citizen.

Yes, sorry...made an error there. The good news is that your father can find all sorts of .30-06 for a new Garand that is perceived as better and/or cheaper than the POF at J&G.
