Here is my letter to ZirCan:

Dear Senator Zirkin,

Please oppose any new gun control legislation and more specifically, that which bans semi-automatic weapons and places restrictions on magazines.

I have been a registered Maryland Democrat since 1968 and a resident in your district since 1977. I am an older vet who values his gun rights. These are trying times, and how you respond will continue to be an extremely important topic for me when deciding my votes. If you vote to restrict my constitutionally granted right to bear arms, I will actively work to remove you from office. I will also tirelessly encourage your Republican opposition to challenge you in the next election.

I am also a member of several non gun centric civic groups. Most of the members I see are voicing their displeasure with our Maryland Legislators back door closed session politics. I continually update them on how their local representatives, like you, are voting on local issues. If the thousands of Marylanders that showed up to testify against gun control has not gained your attention, then maybe a more difficult re-election campaign will.

Please take a stand for our Constitution, and honor our law abiding Maryland citizens by voting against SB281!

Dear Senator Zirkin,
I am writing to state that I do not want you to support any additional 2nd Amendment restrictions upon law abiding Maryland citizens.
As you know, Maryland already has some of the toughest gun laws in America and we still have issues with violent crime. I do not feel that further restrictions upon people such as my wife and myself will do anything to curb the gun violence in our state.
I implore you to help the citizens by providing harsh penalties to criminals upon conviction, not the law abiding citizens. We need to move forward by keeping the violent criminals off the streets- not punishing the people who did not commit crimes by way of legislation. As you know, we have a very high recidivism rate, yet we continue to have a "revolving door" policy when it comes to violent criminals.
Please do what you can to keep the violent criminals off the street and not turn legal Maryland gun owners in to criminals via new laws.
