I agree, 44 mag is just sexiness....Dirty Harry concurs. But, shooting full power 44 mag isnt for me.....just hurts.
44 Magnum is by far my most favorite revolver round. If you are lucky enough to find a Dan Wesson with interchangeable barrels, don't pass it by.
My DW and I go back many years and we know each other well. I prefer shooting it with its 8" barrel because it's so well balanced and accurate in that config. And sooner or later it will lead you to a Ruger Blackhawk. With a 10.5" barrel mine is a monster hand cannon.
thomfantomas, 44man (and others) steered you in the right direction -> Reload your own 44 mag ammo! Shooting only full power factory rounds will break your bank and your wrist! It's cheaper and a lot more fun to roll your own.
Casting 240/.429 boolits from wheel weight lead and adding gas checks is not complicated. I load both JB's and CB's depending on how hot I want the loads. That way I can control the accuracy and power I want the rounds to deliver. And shooting rounds you built on your bench will make you smile!
Enjoy your 44! It's a great caliber!
I take my Virginian Dragoon in 44 Mag with me almost every time I go the the range. I usually only shoot a few rounds through it, but there so satisfying.
I used to have a Dan Wesson. 2 6" barrels. One regular the other ported. Great system!
I regret selling that and my Marlin 1894pg.
I had a project to fund at the time....rent!
The Anaconda has been a worthy replacement. Now, I just need another lever gun. I'm thinking trapper.
My most recent 44 mag purchase was a new Marlin 1894. I shared it in the lever porn post but here is a pic of it. I’m so glad I didn’t walk away from it!

I want one to thread and suppress. Why, cause I can.... I got the can, just need the rifle...
Bought my first Revolver in 44 mag,i was intimidated since many complain of it being a hand cannon which it is but after hitting the range yesterday i am convinced it is a very fun and quite exhilarating round.
Single action is a must,i failed miserable at accuracy with double action. At 9 yards i was maintaining a nice square grouping non-stop.
I'm proud to have my very own Model 29-2 Smith&Wesson
Good thread for this evening. Had mine out earlier . Enjoy it but man it gets expensive shooting . I have a Ruger super Redhawk. I don’t do so well either at double action.been wanting to put some type of optic on it . But do not know what.would like a dot for I plan on hunting with it which would seem to be less bulky.also I feel I could have a better shot than trying to hold a scope still . Hand gun and optics is a whole new thing for me and I would appreciate any input. With a dot in my mind I could use it for defensive purposes also if needed where a scope would not be practical. Not that this pistol is practical for defensive purposes anyway. Guess just want to keep it for flexible applications. Although I have a feeling a scope might wind up on it.anyone familiar with an ultra dot. Have a friend who has a rifle like above trying to get it from him he don’t hunt anymore . The 44 is a round I enjoy shooting.
Nope . Reckon it’s not much different than shooting volume of something else . Wish I knew how to put a smiling face on here.
