OMG!!!
Last month, Marylanders To Prevent Gun Violence gave our first-ever Gun Violence Prevention Champion Award to Senator Brian Frosh and Delegate Kathleen Dumais for their leadership in enacting the Firearms Safety Act of 2013.
Senator Frosh has been one of Maryland's premier gun violence prevention leaders for decades. He was the principal architect of key provisions of our new law and did a tremendous job as Chairman of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee in shepherding the legislation through the Committee and the full Senate.
As Vice-Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Delegate Dumais played a key role in making sure that that Committee approved a strong gun violence prevention measure and then eloquently defended the measure on the floor of the House of Delegates.
We were honored to give these awards at an event sponsored by the Maryland Public Health Association, which also gave Senator Frosh an award for his work on gun violence prevention.
Congratulations to both of them!
